UK Sports Info

I had a great day at the Eddie Ford Hoopfest today and saw some good games.  The Indiana team that was one of the favorites lost out early so most people were a little disappointed.  The Michigan Mustangs was a talented team showing off some good talent.  While watching them I had the opportunity to talk to Juwan Howard as he was watching his son play.  Juwan was very nice and said he didn’t mind my UK shirt since he beat us….but said it could be worst I could have been wearing a UNC or Duke shirt.  I enjoyed the coversation and really enjoyed the play of his son, Juwan Jr.   Tom Izzo was also present to see some action and one of his 2010 commits in Keith Appling, who from what I saw today was head over heals in the competition.  Appling was on a team that he did not have to over do much of anything, but he was clearly the most talented player on the court.

I also had the opportunity to have some conversations about John Wall and Bledsoe and the battles in the pick up games.  Wall is definitley getting great reviews but Bledsoe is also getting some great reviews as well.  I don’t think people understand the level that Bledsoe can play at and he is going to be a lot of fun and in him alone we are going to have point guard talent we have not had in a long time.  With both we are going to have the best two point guards at the same time that we have ever seen.  It is going to be a lot of fun.

Now, I am off to watch some UFC.

Looks like there is a new campaign being launched for the UK billboards.  Here is the full release from UK. UK fans can tune into 1630 AM all day to listen to the fight song, and for all of the UK fans in Louisville you can tune into 1640 AM.

All eyes were on the King City Classic and there have been many reports coming out about who showed well. Marquis Teague has received some big time reviews about his game. He put on a great show and impressed many of the scouts and coaches. Rivals.com gives a great breakdown of how the some of the top players played. Fab Melo is one player that did not make the previous list…but he did get his own write up. I like this kids game and I hate to say it but I am guessing he is going to end up at Louisville but the UCONN might land him.  Even though UK is not currently on his list, Adam Ross his high school coach did say that UK is recruiting him hard.  Melo is rated as the #5 2010 player in country now.

There also have been some other moves in the rivals.com 150 rankings as of late.

Rivals.com also has a report of how the summer events have progressed so far including players who did well and raised their stock.

UK11JohnWall Twitter account has been found to be a fake as well as Demarcus Cousins.  While these two accounts were found to be fake it was still kind of fun while it lasted because everyone was starting to follow them.  At the same time it is disappointing that we do not actually have these guys Twitter accounts if they do exist.  That is social media in a nutshell…its great when used correctly by the right people but it is easy create fraud.

This weekend is looking promising as The Eddie Ford Hoopsfest is going to be in Louisville.  Here is the official site with all of the information about the locations and times of the event.  Don’t miss out on this as there should be some pretty good games.

The early final answer to many questions has been answered.  The 12 man roster for the Kentucky Wildcats has been officially released for the 2009-2010 season.  I would assume that this is the roster that we will see at the start of the season, but you never know as we have seen many things happen in the past.  I am as happy as anyone with our roster and think everyone should be afraid to play UK.  Even though that recruiting site out of Louisville ranked Marquette above UK, I will say that we are absolutely loaded.  Marquette may have 7 players in this recruiting class that are rated highly, but they do not have John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Jon Hood, Daniel Orton and Darnell Dodson.  No one in the country can compare and especially if Wall lives up to all of the hype there will not be another of his calibur to play college basketball for long time.

Now for the roster….

The week has been filled with more and more sites bringing updates of the potential UK targets or players who have already been offered.  A number of players have been talked about since Sunday.  One of the players that I have heard very little about this week so far is Fab Melo.  From the small amount of coverage he is getting all I have heard is that he is really really good.  There has also been talk about his size. I have only talked about Fab a couple of times on here but I like what I have seen of him and heard about his skill set.  Hopefully we will hear some more about him in the coming weeks.  Here is the Melo video…..

The Lebron James Skills Camp is going on right now will wrapping up and moving to the King City Classic tomorrow.  The King City Classic will be held on July 8-9 and the roster will be posted tomorrow for that event.  After that, the attention will be turned to Louisville where the Eddie Ford Hoopsfest will be held.  There are going to be a ton of teams there and should be some entertaining games.

On the UK, Patterson’s mom spoke out about this agent that everyone has been talking about.  This has been the rumors that have overtaken the internet since the final decision of Xavier.  Larry Vaught spoke about this on Sunday.
