If you were worried about the UK Hoops Team having a hangover, or the letdown after their big win over Tennessee last week, fear no more as they went down to Columbia and beat a top 25 South Carolina team 66-58.  With Florida beating LSU today, that means the Wildcats’ 5-0 SEC record is good enough to put them in first place all by themselves.  The Cats have extended their best conference start in school history, and are flying high right now with a potential top 5 ranking coming this week.

Keyla Snowden led the Cats and all scores with 15 points.  A’dia Mathies had to deal with some foul trouble and was limited to only 8 points.  Quite a difference from the 34 point performance she had against Tennessee, but proving that this team is capable of picking up the slack.

Defense was the key again today for the Cats as they forced the Gamecocks into 28 turnovers.  Matthew Mitchell has his team playing hard, and they will have to continue to do so as they make a trip to Athens this week to play a very good Georgia team.  That game is on Thursday at 7 pm.  The Wildcats will return home on next Sunday when the Florida Gators come to town.  In the meantime, Kentucky will be able to enjoy their place at the top of the SEC.
