High School Basketball Recruiting — 02 February 2012
Jordan Brand Classic–The Rosters

Ever heard of that Michael Jordan guy?  Yeah, that one.  You know, the greatest basketball player to ever grace the planet.  He also dabbled in fashion, basketball shoes, gambling, cigar smoking, and minor league baseball.  Like Ron Burgundy, he’s kind of a big deal.

He’s such a big deal, he’s got his own high school basketball all-star game.  Future Wildcats Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin were selected as teammates on the West team.  I know, the geography doesn’t make sense to me either.  Since when were Tennessee and Arkansas considered “west”?  Will Cauley was left off the roster.  Don’t get mad, Big Willie.  Get even.

Want further proof God is keeping UK basketball in His good graces?  Two of the biggest uncommitted apples in John Calipari’s recruiting eye are teammates with Poythress and Goodwin—Shabazz Muhammed and Anthony Bennett.  It’s not cheating, Alex and Archie.  It’s called persuading your buddies to hang out for the next couple years in Lexington.

East Team

Kyle Anderson, UCLA (No. 3)
Kris Dunn, Providence (No. 22)
Jerami Grant, Syracuse (No. 36)
Gary Harris, Michigan State (No. 10)
Brice Johnson, North Carolina (No. 47)
Ricardo Ledo, Providence (No. 13)
Tony Parker, Undecided (No. 19)
Rodney Purvis, North Carolina State (No. 17)
Kaleb Tarczewski, Arizona (No. 7)
J.P. Tokoto, North Carolina (No. 89)

West Team

Brandon Ashley, Arizona (No. 4)
Isaiah Austin, Baylor (No. 2)
Anthony Bennett, Undecided (No. 6)
Archie Goodwin, Kentucky (No. 16)
Danuel House, Houston (No. 31)
Grant Jerrett, Arizona (No. 15)
Shabazz Muhammad, Undecided  (No. 1)
Marcus Paige, North Carolina (No. 28)
Alex Poythress, Kentucky (No. 14)
Rasheed Sulaimon, Duke (No. 11)

Carry on, Big Blue Nation.  Carry on.

  1. I hope that Nerlens gets added. Doesn’t seem fair to him if he isn’t in the line up. Arguably the best player in the class now. Could be awesome if UK ends up with 4-5 of these guys. BBN!

    • If Nerlens and Shabazz get added to go with Poythress and Goodwin—with the return of Wiltjer and “maybe” Lamb—#1 with a bullet. Again.
