It appears the chances of Kentucky landing former UConn power forward Alex Oriakhi aren’t as slim as everybody thought, per UConn blogger Kevin Duffy. Click here for the entire article.
Oriakhi will “definitely visit” the 2012 national champions (God I love writing that) along with North Carolina, Dook, and Missouri. Assuming the NCAA puts their money where the mouth is and upholds UConn’s 2013 tournament ban for players not going to class bombing out in the APR category, he’ll be immediately eligible next season.
Show of hands, Big Blue Nation–who out there would like an experienced, burly, potnetial NBA power forward with a national championship ring on his finger to be on Rupp Arena’s floor next season? The “ays” have it. There’s nothing better than democracy in action. I’m with you, BBN. With the expected departures of Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones, Oriakhi is an excellent option.
As always, there’s a catch for Kentucky. The stupid SEC doesn’t allow one year transfers after the Jeremiah Masoli/Ole Miss football debacle. Thanks a lot, Houston Nutt. You should’ve been fired just for that. Way to rain on our blue parade. Jerk. To be immediately eligible, Oriahki would have to apply for an academic waiver.
Stay tuned. We’re in for quite the recruiting ride over the next month.
