As I posted earlier today there was some people saying that Xavier Henry was not happy with Kansas and etc. I truly believe that he will be at Kansas no matter how he feels and no matter what is said. One thing I know 100% for sure is that everyone who is not a UK fan is just getting mad at the thought of it.
Another rumor that has surfaced today, but seems to have no credibility is that John Wall is working with Sonny Vaccarro on the possibility to play overseas. I am just shocked to even see anything like that and that would be the absolute biggest shocker. I believe Wall plans to keep the promise that he made to his Dad before his passing and attend school.
This Vaccarro guy is not good for the kids high school and it is a shame to see kids skipping their senior year of high school to go overseas to let this guy make money off of them. You can talk about AAU coaches, handlers etc., but Vaccarro is the one making out like a bandit. More and more kids will decide to go overseas and it will have an impact on the college game, but more importantly it will have an impact on the kids. I do not see that this will be a positive impact at all, but rather taking the easy way out and possibly hurting their draft status or games. Short cuts never get it done and I know we have seen that time and time again. When you look at players like Michael Jordon, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and etc, you see guys who work hard and don’t take short cuts. The players today of course are in a different situation where they are required to be one year removed from high school whereas the players above had the choice to go pro directly after high school. Lebron is 1 in a million and there will likely not be another for a long long time. Kobe was on a different level and was ready for the league, but when you get down to it look at all of the players who have tried to go pro out of high school and ended up at the end of the bench or even no where.
Very few kids are actually ready for the league, but everyone thinks a lot of them are ready. The fact of the matter is that people see dollar signs and push these kids, when college is a great experience for them to grow in an environment that teaches valuable skills. When these kids go overseas they do not get the same experience they do in college. Ultimately it is up to the kid and their parents, and the sad thing is that people are using them just to make money.
Hopefully, all of the rumors will calm down and our players will be on campus in the next week playing pick up ball and taking summer courses. It is my understanding that Orton will be working out in California with the same guy who worked with Blake Griffin, so that will be huge for him. If Miller makes the USA team then he will of course be off of campus. Of course Jodie will probably continue his time at draft camps. There will be some amazing games this summer even without those guys on campus. I am looking forward to the first opportunity to watch them play.
