Earlier this week I reported that Will Barton was going to commit to UK sometime in the near future. Who knows what happened but he decided to commit to Memphis which is very interesting. I believe that most recruiting analysts would agree that this is very surprising. In fact, most people who had spoken with Barton and who were close to the situation all felt like UK was the school that he would attend. While I am shocked at this commitment to Memphis I don’t think it really matters that much in the big picture. I know UK would love to have this kid, but there are many others out there and this opens the door for those players. It does look like the negative press that Calipari has been getting in the last couple of weeks has had an impact atleast on this recruit. It was definitely a tool that Pastner used to land this recruit over Calipari. This is something that will be interesting to watch as more recruits make decisions and whether other coaches will use the same tactics to land players. Here is the Barton interview.

Here are a couple of players that might be impacted by this decision.
Kyrie Irving a combo guard that I posted video of yesterday. Kyrie will likely end up as a big time player where ever he goes.
Doron Lamb from Oak Hill Academy which is a great talent as well. I am a huge fan of Oak Hill products and feel that Coach Cal can do something special with Oak Hill players that the latest coaches at UK have not been able to do.
