Long Time Folks….Nice to Be Back

It has been a very long time since I have posted anything on this blog and due to many other engagements I will only post once and a while.
Biggest news that has been surfacing lately is that Kyrie Irving will in fact commit to Duke. While this may come as a disappointment to a lot of UK fans I honestly can say this is the best thing for UK. Irving is a talented individual and may or may not fit well with Duke. Over the summer I had plenty of opportunities to watch him play and I had major major concerns. Attitude is my first concern, which is more of problem with him wanting to be THE MAN and not one of the players on a team. He also seemed to have games where he would shine but against the higher talent levels he would almost get lost at times and frustration set in. In no way shape or form do I expect him to be a total bust in college, but many names from UK’s past come to mind when I think of players like him. He could be the type of player to cause more problems than helping the team out. I think he is a good kid but could be detrimental to the team.

Adreian Payne would be a huge addition to the upcoming recruiting class. I have been very high on this kid since the summer. While he will sit in the short corner, run the floor and block shots he could make a huge impact on the style of play that now is in motion at UK. Payne has a lot to offer. CJ Leslie also has a great style of play to fit perfectly into Coach Cal’s style of play. Leslie is an exciting player and would add a level of excitement to the court that would make everyone pumped up.

In other news…Wazoo Sports has some very exciting news that will provide extensive coverage of sports around the Bluegrass area. Wazzo has close ties with Jeff Shephard (UK Basketball) and Matt Layow (UK Football) and will be extremely exciting. Follow Wazzo and all of the upcoming events.

Tom Leach has also launched an exciting new website providing extensive coverage of UK Football and their upcoming opponents. Tom has great news from the football camp, great interviews after practices and interviews following games. Other features on Tom’s site include the opportunity for fans to send in questions for Tom to ask the coaches as well as any questions you may have for Tom. Another feature that is popular is the sign up for Tom’s game day notes which will provide you with a rundown of information for the upcoming opponent. Tom will continue to add to the website and the ability for you as fans to interact directly with him. Do not miss all of the video and audio content that Tom adds on a regular basis that you will not find anywhere else.
