Thursday Night Post

Today has been full of news mostly bad, but there was one bright spot with an article about Meeks and how he is still open to returning to school.  Meeks said several things, but hopefully he will make the right decision for him. Today we also saw Saul Smith make comments, which were less than complimentary to UK.  Smith has always had an issue with talking too much.  I can remember when UK was getting ready to play St. Johns in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic tournament and Omar Cook was the point guard for St. Johns.  If you look at the stats you can see who ended up with the better game.  Sometimes its better to keep your mouth shut unless you can back it up.   Smith had some comments about shutting down Cook, which inspired Cook to absolutely embarrass Smith.  He did release more about his comments today.

While watching ESPN News tonight I heard some of the funniest comments I have ever heard.  I will be in search for the full audio from the discussion.  The panel basically said that everyone cheats and the only ones who complain are the ones who are losing.  I personally do not condone cheating on academics, paying players or anything that breaks the rules that the NCAA has in place, but I would be lying if I said it never happens.

Jeff Goodman pulled out the hater card today as well, but everyone should have expected him to say something.  He is notorious for taking shots against UK and I think it makes his day when he gets the opportunity to do so.

Everyone is focused on the negative right now, and I have been fighting the urge to fall completely into all of the negativity.  We do have many bright spots right now that we should turn our focus to and let these other things take care of themselves.  The Gillispie situation will be taken care of and it will upset some and it will make others happy.  The Memphis allegations will be figured out and both Coach Cal and Memphis can go on their way.  Calipari is going to be under much scrutiny, but he seems to have a great relationship with the NCAA and has always been up front and honest with them.  That is all that matters in the end.

My positive thought for the night is…..

Patterson, Wall, Bledsoe, Orton, Cousins, Dodson, Miller, Hood and possibly Meeks.  There is always light at the end of the tunnel folks.
